
Pest barrier control (also called perimeter pest control) is a prevention method that creates a protective “barrier” around a home or building to stop pests from getting inside in the first place.
Instead of only treating pests after they appear indoors, pest barrier control focuses on blocking entry and treating the OUTSIDE perimeter around the home or structure.
Pest barrier control is about creating a protective “shield” around a structure so insects and rodents either can’t get in—or are eliminated before they do.
This is the core of barrier control. A technician applies a residual insecticide around the outside of the building from the base of the building and extending 1 – 3 feet out from base.
The idea is that pests like ants, spiders, and roaches come into contact with the treatment before entering.
For more resistant pests that live in soil (like ants or some beetles), granules may be spread around the yard perimeter and watered in. This creates a longer-lasting ground barrier.
